Big Berkey Stainless Steel Portable Water Filter 2.25 Gallons is ideal for everyday use and a must in a hostile environment where electricity, water pressure or treated water may not be available.It is perfect for use at home with small or medium sized families, while traveling, during outdoor activities or in an emergency. This powerful system allows you to filter both treated and untreated raw water from such sources as remote lakes, streams, stagnant ponds and water supplies in foreign countries, where regulations may be second rate at best. Effectively used during a natural disaster or an unexpected emergency such as floods, hurricanes, earthquakes and blackouts, when clean water is not accessible.

The system filters out harmful chemicals such as pesticides, herbicides, organic solvents, trihalomethanes, radon 222 and VOC. While also eliminating pathogenic bacteria, cysts and parasites. It will reduce nitrates, nitrites and unhealthy minerals such as mercury and lead. The Big Berkey is so efficient it can remove food coloring from water and not eliminate the beneficial minerals your body needs. Virtually no other system is able to duplicate this performance.

The Big Berkey Water Filter system comes complete with either two or four Black Berkey purification elements and utilizes the latest technological advances. It's constructed of highly polished 304 stainless steel and has a storage capacity of about 2.25 gallons (8.5 liters). When in use it stands 19.25 inches in height and less than 8.5 inches in diameter. Configured with two Black Berkey purification elements the system will filter up to 3.5 gallons (12.3 liters) per hour and can be expanded to use four purification elements to increase it's capability to filter up to 7gallons (26.5 liters) per hour. The flow rate is calculated when the upper chamber is filled to the top and decreases as the water level declines. For transport the upper chamber nest within the lower chamber and stands only 13 inches in height.
